Torneo amistoso en El Vecino de la Bestia // Friendly Tournament at "El Vecino de la Bestia"

Éste viernes tuve la ocasión de subirme a Zaragoza con mi hermano, así que no desaproveché la ocasión y me animé a subirme para poder conocer la comunidad de allí.

I had the chance to travel to Zaragoza with my brother last Friday, so I didn´t waste the chance and went with him in order to meet the players of that community.

Había estado hablando con Edgruff, Enki y Wolfoman sobre ir allá por estas fechas, me comentaron que el sábado jugarían un torneo amistoso, así que me animé a participar.

Llegué a Zaragoza el viernes por la noche y la verdad agradecí el clima, en Alicante estaba haciendo un calor horroroso estos días que no me dejaba dormir así que el viento fue bien recibido.

El sábado por la mañana llegué al Vecino de la Bestia y conocí al resto de jugadores, en total eramos 10, todos fueron muy majos la verdad, me acogieron muy bien. Una vez hechas las presentaciones nos pusimos a jugar:

1º Partida vs Juan (Mei Feng 10T)

Para esta partida me decanté por una lista de Brewmaster muy parecida a la que había usado el viernes en Headhunter contra Zerfel y su Nicodem.

Juan llevaba una lista de Mei Feng con Yamaziko, 2 Katanaka Snipers, 2 Oiran, 3 Rail Workers. Llevaba muy pocas piedras de alma, 2 ó 3.

Escogí Frame for Murder en Francois y Protect Territory. Juan se decantó por Frame for Murder en Yamaziko y Distract.

Gané el despliegue y le dejé desplegar primero. Mi despliegue se condicionó bastante por los Katanakas, intentando tener las miniaturas en cobertura o fuera de línea de visión. Como veis en la foto Francois fue por el flanco izquierdo, mi núcleo de Brew, Wesley, Performer, Slop Hauler y Trixiebelle desplegaron en el centro, y Fingers y Merris en mi lado derecho.

Mi plan inicial era asegurarme los dos marcadores de la derecha rápidamente, e intentar conseguir el del centro, que estaba en terreno difícil, gracias a Merris. Fran se lanzaría a por el cuarto marcador, para impedir que mi rival puntuase, y ser así un objeto prioritario para él.

En el turno 1 gané la iniciativa y lo primero que hice fue activar a Trixiebelle para mover y lanzarle un Gremlin Lure al Katanaka de encima de la caseta, tirándolo al suelo. Lo que buscaba era que no tuviera un tiro fácil, y lo cierto es que con esa acción me lo quité prácticamente de toda la partida, ya que tuvo que recolocarse y le costó mucho tiempo.

El activó al otro Katanaka y me disparó a la Performer, dejándomela a 2 de vida. Respondí moviendo a Fingers 3 veces. Merris fue a por otro contador, mientras lanzaba a Francois en solitario a las líneas enemigas, buscando una muerte rápida.

Al inicio del turno dos gané la iniciativa y tuve claro lo que tenía que hacer. Activé a Brew, moví y lanzé Hangover sobre Mei Feng dos veces, dejándola en una situación francamente complicada. Activé por companion a Francois, quien se lanzó a por ella aunque por desgracia para mi la dejé a 1 herida y es que previno 2 de daño.

Por suerte para mi tenía una máscara baja en mano, así que en mi siguiente activación Wesley lanzé Bingue sobre Francois, que acabó con Mei Feng.

Me atacó con una Oiran a Francois y me coló el ataque, por lo que gasté mi última piedra de alma en prevenir el daño, esperaba que me matase Yamaziko o en el peor de los casos podría morir en el mismo turno más adelante por los golpes de otra miniatura.

Había conseguido asestar un golpe importante, y mi rival todavía no había desvelado Frame for Murder, así que me decidí por no matar ninguna miniatura más. Finalizamos el segundo turno y yo gané PV por Squatter´s Rights y él no. La sorpresa fue que al final de turno colocó Distract sobre Merris, no me esperaba que cogiera esa intriga, aunque no pudo puntuar por esa intriga ya que únicamente tenía una miniatura distraída.

En el tercero turno Juan aniquiló mi flanco izquierdo, lanzando a una Yamaziko muy enfadada, que acabó primero con Wesley, para luego pegar un buen golpe a Brew que hizo daño moderado...colocando plantilla sobre Fran y matándolo, con lo que gané 3PV. Dio distraer al Brewmaster pero al final acabó matándolo, cuando simplemente quería dejarlo a pocas vidas para matarlo en el turno siguiente.

El resto de mi banda se fue a la parte derecha, con Fingers impidendo que me pudieran arrebatar los contadores o que lograra interactuar por aquí. Empecé a colocar todos los contadores que pude gracias a Merris, Fingers y Trixiebelle, mientras que el Slop los curaba cada turno de los ataques que sufrían por parte de un Rail Worker y un Katanaka.

La partida finalizó al final del cuarto turno, ya que la remontada era imposible. Acabamos:

-Druso: 9 (3 Squatter´s Rights, 3 Frame for Murder, 3 Protect Territory)

-Juan: 1 (1 Squatter´s Rights)

Creo que Distract no fue una buena elección, de ser Juan hubiera escogido entre Frame For Murder, Bodyguard y Protect Territory las dos intrigas. En cualquier caso un rival genial al que estoy deseando de volver a ver. Creo que el empujón inicial de Trixiebelle al Katanaka Sniper condicionó mucho la partida a mi favor, ya que me había quitado un tirador bastante molesto.

1º ronda: Korvalus vs Edgruf y Javi vs Enki

Intermedio para Comer

Tras la primera ronda hicimos un parón para comer, el sitio fue Domino´s Pizza, un templo para todos los jugadores de la tienda ya que está muy cerca del local. 

Para comer fuimos ocho, y estuvimos charrando un buen rato sobre las novedades de la GenCon, la pésima suerte que tiene Enki en sus partidas y lo cañero que es Sloth, el Pecado Resurrecionista. Comentamos algunas estrategias básicas de cada maestro, así como la gran mejora que supone para Tara el Scion of the Void que saldrá en la Wave3 y lo difícil que es es jugarla ahora mismo.

Cuando les comenté el combo de McCabe con Killjoy y lo interesante que era ya que te permitía tener al monstruo donde querías aunque fuera a costa de la mitad de un maestro  Snal me sorprendió mucho cuando me comentó que eso no se puede hacer, ya que en el Dismount de McCabe pone que ni se sacrifica ni muere, sino que se remueve.

También hablamos un poquito de Ironsides, muy bien llevada por Edgruff que nos comentaba que no es para nada mala como muchos jugadores opinan, sino que puede ser muy cañera...mientras esté bien cargada de adrenalina claro.

Javi llevaba una lista clásica de Grow de Lilith, con Nekima, Blood Shaman, 3 Terror Tots, 1 Young Nephilim.

Escogí  Power Ritual y Breakthrough. Creo que hice mal y debería haberme arriesgado con Entourage en Sommer, a pesar del potencial destructivo de Lilith y Nekima.

No coloqué del todo bien la Pigapulta y un Terror Tot se me escapó por donde yo al principio pensaba que no podría pasar, pero vamos tampoco fue gran cosa. Sommer acabó escapándose del fregao, dedicándose a ir hacia la esquina opuesta para lograr Power Ritual.

El principal problema de la partida fue el poder de recolocación de Lilith, que consiguió cambiar un Bayou Gremlin por Nekima, metiéndo a ésta en mitad de todo mi horda Gremlin. Francois todavía no había activado y tuvo la oportunidad de acabar con ella (en mi mano tenía algún 13 y muchas cartas de daño severo) pero desgraciadamente saqué un joker negro en el primer ataque, por lo que no pude rematar la faena.

Con ese joker negro lo cierto es que la partida se puso imposible para mi, por lo que viendo que me tendría que ir dentro de poco para Alicante, le comenté de dejarla que a fin de cuenta su victoria era clara. Quizás podría haber luchado por lograr Breakthrough pero como digo, quería hablar un poco con el resto de jugadores. Así que acabamos:

-Druso 4 (1 Reconnoiter, 3 Power Ritual)

-Javi 10 (4 Reconnoiter, 3 Power Ritual, 3 Breakthrough)

Otro rival de 10, y la verdad que más aun cuando fue tan amable de llevarme en coche al punto donde me esperaba mi hermano para volvernos para Alicante.

Conclusiones

El ambiente en Zaragoza es genial, en total fuimos 10 jugadores y acabé 4 por lo que estoy satisfecho con el papel, aproveché para hacer fotillos y charlar con la gente, y animarlos a que se bajasen para el torneo del 17 de Octubre en Alicante.

Snal y Edgruff

Un placer charlar con Edgruff, tendero bastante majo además de henchman, que tuvo el detalle de regalarme un blíster con peanas variadas.

Comparación entre Pigapults

Os dejó con fotos de las otras mesas. Aunque os parezcan algo despobladas es porque son bastante más grandes de lo normal, había que quitar 6" de cada lado para hacerlas del tamaño de las de Malifaux. La verdad que yo acabé muy contento con la esceno, una buena densidad y un acabado muy bueno, mis felicitaciones a Edgruff quien es el que se pegó el curro.

I had been talking to Edgruff, Enki and Wolfoman about going there around these dates, they told me that the would play a friendly tournament at Saturday so I signed up for it.

I came Zaragoza Friday night and I bless the weather. Im from Alicante and the weather is so warm that i couldn´t sleep so the wind was nice for me.

Saturday morning I get to "El Vecino de la Bestia" and met the others players, we were 10. They were very friendly and welcome me really well. Once the introductions finished we proceeded to play.

1º Match vs Juan (Mei Feng 10T)

I picked a Brewmaster crew very similiar to a one that I used last Friday at Headhunter against Zerfel and his Nicodem.

Juan had a Mei Feng crew with Yamaziko, 2 Katanaka Snipers, 2 Oirans, 3 Rail Workers. He had only a few soulstones, I guess 2 or 3.

I took Frame for Murder (Francois) and Protect Territory. Juan picked Frame For Murder (Yamaziko) and Distract.

I won deployment so I did that Juan deployed fist. My deployment was conditionated by Katanakas, trying to have my models in cover or out of LoS. As you can see in the picture Francois went along my left side, being the most of my models (Brew, Wesley, Performer, Slop Hauler and Trixiebelle) in the center. Fingers and Merris went by my right side.

My initial was to ensure the two squatter´s markers on the right quickly, and then try to get the center marker which was in severe terrain with Merris. Fran will go for the forth marker avoiding my opponent to get points.

I won T1 iniciative and the fist thing i did was to activate Trixiebelle to push a Katanaka Sniper off a house thanks to Gremlin Lure. I tried to not to being an easy target and the true is that with that action I remove that model for almost the entire game since he has to reposition and it waste a lot of actions.

He activated the other Katanaka and shooted the Performer, he left she with only 2 wounds. I respondend moving Fingers three times. Merris went for the other marker, while Francois moved alone, looking for a easy death.

At the begining of T2 I activated Brew, who moved and launched Hangover over Mei Feng twice, Fran activated by Companion and launch him leaving her at 1 wound, OMG she managed to prevent 2 damage in the last attack having negatives in the flip. 

I was lucky enough in having a low mask in my hand, so in the next activation Wesley launched Bingue over Francois, who killed Mei Feng.

Francois was attacked by a Oiran and I spent my last soulstone preventing damage. I expected that Yamaziko killed Fran or in the worst case that Fran can died later in the turn.

I had managed to deal a great strike to my opponent and he hadn´t revealed Fram for Murder, so I decided to not kill any model. At the end of the turn I won VP for Squatter´s Rights and he not. The surprise was that with one of his last activations he put me Distract on Merris with an Oiran. I didn´t expected that scheme. Unfortunately for him, only one model was distracted.

In T3 Juan annihilated by left flank, launching an angry Yamaziko, who first killed Wesley and then hit Brew with moderate damage, doing blast and killing Francois, so I won 3 VP! He managed to distract Brew but then he killed him, when he was trying to do a bit of damage in order to kill him in the next turn.

The rest of my crew went to the right side, with Fingers impeding interact. I starter to put the scheme markers with Merris, Fingers and Trixiebelle while the Slop Hauler healed each turn the attacks of a Rail Worker and a Katanaka.

The game ended at T4, because the comeback was already impossible and we were running out of time:

-Juan: 1 (1 Squatter´s Rights)

I feel that Distract wasn´t a good option, If I was Juan I would picked between Frame for Murder, Bodyguard and Protect Territory my two schemes. Anyway a great opponent who im wishing to see again. I think that the initial Trixie´s push at the Katanaka influenced the game.

Lunch Break

After first round we stopped for lunch, the choice was Domino´s Pizza, a temple for every player of the shop since it was really near.

We were eight at lunch and we talked a lot about GenCon, the Enki´s bad luck when he is playing and the badass that is Sloth, the Resser Sin. We discussed some basic tactics of each master and the great boost that supposes the Scion of the Void in Tara´s crew and the hard that was playing right now.

When I told them about McCabe combo with Killjoy and the interesting that it was because it allows you to bring the monster where you want to (McCabe takes 3 walks and then dismounts) albeit at the cost of half of a master Snal surprised me telling me that you can´t do that since Dismont specify that you "remove" the model instead of "killing or sacrifing it"

We also talk about Ironsides and Edgruff´s experience with her, in his opinion is not as bad as a lot of players think instead she might be very strong,..while she has adrenaline of course.

Javi had a classic grow crew with Lilith, Nekima, Blood Shaman, 3 Terror Tots, 1 Young Nephilim and Malifaux Cherub.

I picked Power Ritual and Breakthrough. I think that I made a mistake and should took a risk with Entourage (Sommer) in spite of Lilith and Nekima destruction power.

I did not place well the Pigapult and a Terror Tot escaped me but It wasn´t a important thing. Sommer succeed in evading Lilith, moving to the corner in order to get victory points for Power Ritual.

Tha main problem in the game was the recolocation power of Lilith, who succeeds in changing a Bayou Gremling for Nekima, puting her in the middle of my Gremlin horde. Francois wasn´t activated yet and I had a chance for killing her but a black joker in the first attack threw away my victory chances so I couldn´t finish the job.

With that Black Joker the games become impossible to me, and seeing that I couldn´t win and that I need to go to Alicante sooner I ask for finish the game since the victory was clear. Maybe I might fight for Breakthrough VP but as I said, I wanted to talk a bit with the others players.

Another nice opponent, and the truth is that was kind enough to take me where my brother awaited me in order the come back to Alicante.

Conclusions

Zaragoza environment is cool, we were 10 players and I get 4 position so Im happy with my games, I took some photos, talk with the community and encourage them to come to the Alicante Tournament at October 17.

It was a pleasure to chat with Edgruff, a nice shopman who was glad enough to give me a blister with some diverse bases.

Pigapults comparison

Here are some pics of the other boards. They might seen a bit oponed but this is because they are a bigger than a Malifaux board, in fact we should remove 6" by each side ir order. I ended up very happy with the scenery, a nice density and a good look, congratulations to Edgruff for his work.
