De copas con Pandora. Drinking with Pandora

Viernes tarde y otra partida de Malifaux. Lancé un desafío público entre los jugadores de Alicante y al final el veterano Sezar fue quien me aceptó el guante.  Este es mi primer informe de batalla en inglés, así que siento todos los fallos. No olvidéis el fb de Alifaux

Friday afternoon and another Malifaux game. I sent a challenge among Alicante´s Players and finally Sezar accept it. Since this is my first battle report in english I apologize for the mistakes I made. Please do not forget join us in Alifaux´s facebook

Lo cierto es que no tenía ni idea en un primer momento de qué me podría sacar, ya que juega tres facciones -Resurrecionistas, Descastados y Nonatos- por lo que no pude pensar´antes de la partida en como poder hacer frente a su facción.

I had no clue about what Sezar could bring to the match, since he plays with three factions - Ressurrectionist, Outcast and Neverborn- so i couldn´t prepare before the match how to fight against his faction.

Antes de empezar me comentó que usaría Nonatos, yo tenía muchas ganas de ver jugar a Pandora o al Dreamer, así que le comenté si podía usar alguno de esos, preferiblemente Pandora. Él me dijo que aprovechara y usará al Brewmaster, que también tenía ganas de verlo. En principio pensaba jugar a Ophelia, ya que quería una partida sin mucho lío, e ir directo al combate, pero lo cierto es que su idea era muy buena y por la estrategia e intrigas era la ocasión indicada.

Before we started se told me that he will be running Neverborn, so being that I want to see Pandora or Dreamer I ask Sezar for use thoose masters (preferably Pandora). He told me to use Brewmaster, he wanted to see him in play. At first I had the idea of Ophelia, since i want a no messy game and through quickly into fight, but his idea was good and the strategy and schemes were good, creating the perfect chance.

Resumen de la partida:

Yo escogí ALITS, ya que confiaba en que con Merris y Trixie podría hacerla, y Assessinate, ya que quería darle un poco de vida a la partida. Sezar se decantó por Make Them Suffer y Assessinate.

I picked ALITS, since I trusted in Merris and Trixie to do it, and Assessinate because I want a funny game. Sezar opted for Make Them Suffer and Assessinate.

La partida comenzó con Merris, haciendo su habitual acción de 0, Bombs Away, para que Trixie pudiera recogerlo más adelante. Sezar movió el grueso de su fuerza hacia el centro, donde estaba el marcador central, colocando un Web Marker con la Widow Weaver. Coppelius hace dos acciones de caminar para ir flanqueando por mi derecha, mientras que una Beckoner intenta lurear a una Performer, sin éxito.

The match started with Merris, who did the usual 0 action, Bombs Away, in order to Trixie was able to pick the Scheme Marker. Sezar moved several models to the center, where it was the Turf Marker, puting a Web Marker with the Widow Weaver. Coppelius used his two AP in walk actions, triying to outflank me by me right side. A Beckoner try a Lure on one of my Performer, but was unsuccesuful.

Fran hizo reckless, movió dos veces y disparó sobre Tannen, pero falló el tiro. Pandora movió hacia delante e intentó intentó Incite sobre Wesley, pero con su Wp7 fue imposible.

Fran take reckless, moving two times and shooting Tannen, but miss the shot. Pandora moved forward and tried to Incite Wesley, but thaks to his Wp7 she fail.

En el siguiente turno, el Brewmaster usó Hangover sobre Pandora, fue la primera vez que usé la acción y la verdad que me parece muy potente. Lancé un Obey a Francois que disparó sobre Pandora y finalmente la acción de (0) Drinking Contest. Aquí tuve mi primer error grave, ya que me olvidé por completo del Companion de Francois. Pandora incitó a Wesley y paralizó a Fran. Iggy coló burning+5 al Brew, lo que me dolió bastante.

In the next turn, Brewmaster used Hangover in Pandora, it was the first time ever that I used that action and I think that it´s very powerful. I give Fran an Obey, shooting Pandora, and finally i did the 0 AP action Driking Contest. Here i had my first big mistake, forgetting about Francois Companion. Pandora incited Wesley and paralized Fran. Iggy gave burning+5 to Brew, It was so painful although Performers removed some burning, their ability to Interact even engaged is awesome.

En el turno 3 cometí mi segundo gran fallo, al ganar la iniciativa y activar a Francisco antes que a Brew. Se me volvió a olvidar su Companion, y ataqué a Pandora con una carga, fallando el primer ataque, escapándose ésta. El Brew acabó paralizado por Pandora. El turno acabó con la muerte de Fran y de Wesley (Sezar obviamente fue a por el antes de matar al Brew), mientras que Trixie y Merris escaparon de Coppelius para ir a puntuar por ALITS. Iggy consiguió poner burning+6 al Brewmaster, conseguí reducir parte del daño gracias a las acciones de interactuar de las artistas.

In Turn 3 I made my second big mistake, winning the iniciative only to activate Fran first, even before Brew. I forgot Companion again (in fact, i forgot it all the match) attacking Pandora with a  charge and failing the first attack, so she escaped from me.  The turn ended with the death of Fran and Wesley(obviously Sezar wanted to kill him before Brew), while Trixie and Merris avoid Coppelius in order to get points for ALITS. Iggy managed to put burning+6 in Brewmaster, I reduced some of the damage thanks to the Performer and their interact actions.

Después de eso, la partida fue realmente difícil para mi, y finalmente acabe perdiendo. La verdad es que tras jugarla y analizarla me dí cuenta de había tenido la partida en mis manos, podría haber acabado con Pandora y eso habría hecho mucho daño a las posibilidades de victoria de Sezar, pero el olvidarme del Companion me destrozó.

After that, the match was really tough for me, and I finally lost. The truth is that being honest and after play the match and analyze it I realize that in one moment i held the match in my hands, i could killed Pandora and that would have done a lot of damage to the Sezar´s odds of winning. It trashed me forget Companion.

Conclusiones:

El Brewmaster es un maestro muy divertido de jugar y con un estilo que me encanta, pudiendo llegar a ser muy puñetero si se juega bien. Creo que acerté con sus upgrades, Binge me gusta mucho por la versatilidad que me ofrece en caso de tener una máscara baja. Hold Their Hair Back es necesaria para poder hacer su juego en caso de meter veneno y Liquid Bravery hace al Brew algo más resistente (por lo que es una buena opción siempre, más todavía si Asesinato está entre las intrigas).

Brewmaster is a fun Master to play and with. I love him playstyle, being able to be really annoying if you play him well. I think that I picked the nice upgrades. I like Binge a lot thanks to the versatilty that offers to when I have a low mask. Hold Their Hair Back is neccesary to do the game around poison and Liquid Bravery boost the Brew´s endurance (so is always a good option, even better if Assessinate is in the schemes pool)

Wesley es una pasada de totem, una miniatura muy cachonda con ese Wp 7 que hace que sea más resistente de lo que parece contra ciertas bandas. Una lástima que en ésta partida muriera antes que el Brewmaster, porque de no ser así habría cogido el bastón de mando.

Wesley is an awesome totem, a really funny model with that Wp 7 that put in him more resistance that you can imagine at first against some crews. It was a shame that he died before Brew, since if the things were different he would be promoted to Brewmaster (a really nice ability)

No tengo claro que dos Performer sean lo más adecuado, si bien es cierto que por 6ss que nos cuestan como mercenarias pueden resultar muy útiles, si no conseguimos meter veneno al rival puede que estemos perdiendo gran parte de su potencial. Me gustaría jugar una lista simplemente cambiando una Performer por Pere Ravage. Simplemente porque es cañero, y evidentemente Merris estaría cerca de Pere para que no me afectase tanta dinamita.

Im not sure about having two Performer is the optimal choice, although is true that at a 6ss cost as mercenaries they can be really usefull, if we can´t get to put poison in our enemy they loss a lot of her potential. I would like just change a Performer for Pere Ravage. Simply because he is awesome and Merris would be near to avoid Pere explosions affect my crew.

Trixiebelle me parece una pasada, segunda partida que la uso pero es que la gremlin es muy buena por sus puntos. Lo comentaba con Yerati  y es que, no hay razón para no meter a Trixie o Doppelganger en las listas Gremlin o Nonatos respectivamente. Ganar la iniciativa es crucial muchas veces.

Trixiebelle seems me amazing, it was the second game i run her but i think that is really good for her cost. I was chatting with Yerati (a great Malifaux player in my community) and we think that there is not reason to not include Trixie or Doppelganger in their respective Gremlin or Neverborn crews. Winning iniciative is crucial a lot of times.

Tengo muchas ganas de probar a Fingers, la miniatura me gusta y quiero sacarle partido.

I really want to play with Fingers, I like the model and i want to make the most out of something.

Pandora me ha gustado mucho, y tengo intención de jugarla en el futuro. Tiene un estilo de juego muy interesante, que puede llegar a desesperar al rival, especialmente si la dejas campar a sus anchas. Pero vamos, por muy potente que pueda parecer, requiere un buen manejo. Su misery me hizo mucho daño.

I really enjoyed Pandora, and i have the idea of ussing her in the future. She has a very interesting style and can despair your oponnent if you let her control the game. But, although she is powerfull she requieres a nice management. Her misery hurt me a lot.
